Leur accrochage en Argentine demeure le sujet de conversation à Austin. Ils se sont retrouvés tout en s’évitant. Un paddock n’est pas un endroit gigantesque, mais Rossi et Marquez ont habilement déjoué les pièges de la rencontre fortuite. Entre les deux champions, l’ambiance n’est évidemment plus au beau fixe, même si la guerre des mots n’est pas à l’ordre du jour. Le point de vue de Rossi est limpide : "Je dois regarder vers l’avant et penser exclusivement à mon métier de pilote. Je ne changerai pas un mot à mes déclarations prononcées après le Grand Prix d’Argentine. J’accepterai de discuter avec Marquez mais plus tard."
