Le Flandrien est mis en lumière sur ce Tour pour son travail de l’ombre. Pendant des années, Julien Vermote a été connu pour son boulot effectué en tête du peloton du Tour de France. Un travail de l’ombre que le Flandrien effectuait toute l’année pour Quick Step Floors mais qui n’était mis en lumière que pendant le Tour de France, avec la diffusion en intégralité des étapes de la course au maillot jaune.
